Using Chewies with Clear Aligners
Chewies help push your clear aligner tray firmly onto your teeth for a better fit. This allows your teeth to move better and ensure you are getting the full correction out of each tray.
How to use:
1. Insert your aligners over your teeth.
2. Look in the mirror for areas that are not fully seating. The tray might feel bouncy in these spots or you will notice an air space between your teeth and the tray.
3. Take a chewie and bite and hold tight for 5-10 seconds in the area that needs seating. Release and repeat and then move onto the next area. Continue this process for 5-10 minutes each time you insert your trays.
4. Once the aligner is fully seated, you no longer need to use the chewie.
When Chewies are needed:
When you switch into the next set of trays use it in any areas that aren’t fully seated. Chewies are used on an as-needed basis.
Pro-Tip: Wearing your aligners full time (20-22 hours per day) and using a chewie as needed will make your treatment faster and more successful.
