Clear Aligners - What You Need To Know
Attachments:
At the appointment when you first receive your trays, attachments are added to your teeth. Attachments are small, tooth-colored pads that are glued to specific teeth according to the treatment plan that I have designed for you. Attachments blend in with your tooth enamel making them almost invisible to others. The great thing is that you can eat and drink normally with your attachments which makes clear aligners a great choice for someone who wants to continue to eat their typical foods during orthodontic treatment.
Wear:
Clear Aligners need to be worn 20-22 hours per day. If you do not wear them as directed, your treatment will likely take longer than expected and your result may be compromised. Each tray is typically worn for a week before changing to the next tray. A set of trays may range from 10-40 trays.
Refinements:
After going through your initial set of trays, I evaluate to see if any additional trays are needed. Most patients need between 1-2 additional sets of trays called refinements.
